Zarzour was established in 1942 in Damascus, the oldest commercial
capital in the world, in the oldest commercial market in the Middle
East, the Medhat Basha Market.
The company’s founder, Mr. Mohamed Kamel Zarzour, was a veteran
trader specializing in the import and export of food products.
His
son, Mr. Mohamed
Zarzour, led the business into the production and
packaging of food products, spices in particular.
Mr. Mohamed Zarzour specialized in the production of unique spice
blends under the Zarzour trade name, that brand soon carved itself a
prominent position amongst the leading Syrian spice brands. The
Zarzour brand name gained notoriety inside and outside the local
market. |
That notoriety was further bolstered after the introduction
of the first ever ready and easy-to-use packed falafel powder mix
(falafel is the most popular fast food in Syria and the region).
As Mr. Mohamed Zarzour’s businesses prospered for over 40 years at
both commercial and industrial levels, there was a growing need for
new blood and innovative ideas.
Mr. Zarzour’s sons, Kamel and Beshr joined the business and the trading company became family company
known as Zarzour for Food Products company.
The company started expanding its business to include vacuum packed
Turkish coffee as well as packed tea, rice and thyme.
It also started importing tuna and sardines and became the only
Syrian company to import and distribute organic rice.
As the company grew, it's business covered all of Syria, most of the
region and some foreign markets. Zarzour for Food Products will aim
to expand its exports to reach all the Middle East the rest of the
world. |
